What You Should Know About Breast Implants

With the wonders of technology and science, people can make all kinds of changes to themselves and their bodies. Breast implants are one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery for women. Getting a breast augmentation can feel exciting and empowering, and you may be excited to show off a new figure in a bikini or a body-con dress. Still, it's important to know all of the facts about breast augmentation before you start your journey.

There Are Lots of Different Kinds

Breast implants are available in not only different sizes but different shapes as well as different materials. Both saline and silicone breast implants are widely available. While both are encased inside of a silicone shell, one is filled with silicone gel while the other is filled with sterile salt water. Although saline is believed to be safer than silicone in some cases, silicone implants tend to feel the most natural and are lighter than saline implants. The shape of the implant you choose will depend on your personal preference as well as your budget. While round implants are more affordable, the teardrop shape tends to look the most natural. The shape of your breast implants should also complement your body type.

There Are Some Potential Health Risks

As with any surgery, there is always the risk of complications such as bleeding, problems with anesthesia, infection, and more. Biocell textured breast implants have been found to cause breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). Some additional risks during breast augmentation can include implant rupture, decreased nipple sensation, scarring, mispositioning of the implant, constant pain, or the need for a revision. It is important to look at reviews of surgeons in your area so that you may choose an experienced surgeon. Having an experienced, well-regarded surgeon will help you to achieve the best outcome overall.

After the Surgery

Although breast implants can last quite a long time, they are not guaranteed to last forever. Breast implants can usually last around ten to fifteen years before they need to be removed. Know that changes in your body due to childbirth or age can affect how your breast implants look. If you’re planning on having children after your surgery, you might also have trouble breastfeeding after getting implants.

Looking great can help you feel great, especially if you're achieving a personal goal for your appearance. Whether you are a woman who has undergone a mastectomy or a mom who wants a lift, the choice is yours. Before you plan a breast augmentation procedure, make sure to do your research so that you're fully prepared for your next step.

It’s good to know that silicone implants are more natural and lighter than saline implants. My sister is thinking about getting implants done this summer, however, she is worried about it not feeling or looking natural. I’ll have to suggest to her to try silicone implants if she goes through with getting them done. https://www.asatexas.com/procedures/breast
